Getting started

From zero to your first visibility score in about ten minutes.

1. Create your account

Head to lumear.ai/signup and sign in with email/password or Google. You'll be dropped into an onboarding step that asks for a workspace name — call it whatever you want; you can rename it later.

2. Add your first brand

On the Brands page, click + New brand and fill in:

  • Name — the canonical name of your brand. e.g. “Acme Robotics”.
  • Domain (recommended) — your primary website, like acmerobotics.com. No protocol, no path.
  • Industry / categories — short labels we use to generate better persona suggestions and prompts.
  • Aliases — alternative names AI assistants might use for you (“Acme”, “ARC”, “acmerobotics.com”). You can let our AI auto-suggest these.

The moment you save a brand with a domain, Lumear automatically fires a topical crawl of your site in the background. You don't need to do anything else — by the time you finish the next steps, your pages are indexed.

3. Add competitors

On the Competitors page, click Generate with AI. We'll suggest up to 20 competitors based on your brand's industry and category. Tick the 5 you actually care about, hit Add. Those names + aliases become the matchers we use to detect competitor mentions in AI responses.

You can always add competitors manually with Add competitor if our suggestions miss anyone obvious.

4. Build your first prompt set

A prompt set is a bundle of buyer questions you want to track. The fastest way to create one:

  1. Go to Prompt sets+ New set. Give it a name like “Q1 buyer research”.
  2. Use the AI prompt generator: pick a starter persona chip (e.g. “Operating partner at a PE firm screening portfolio companies”), pick an intent (informational / comparison / etc.), and click Generate.
  3. You'll get a draft of ~10 prompts. Edit any that feel off. Hit Save.

Prefer to bring your own? You can also paste prompts manually or upload a CSV.

5. Run it

On the Runs page, click + New run. Pick the brand, the prompt set, and the platforms you care about — ChatGPT and Google AI Overview are the default. Click Start run.

A 25-prompt × 5-platform run takes 1–2 minutes. You'll watch the progress bar fill live. While it runs, Lumear is parsing every response for brand mentions, citations, sentiment, and recommendation framing.

6. Read the results

Once the run finishes, head to Overview. You'll see your AI Visibility Score — a 0–100 composite of mention rate, citation rate, recommendation rate, and sentiment. Underneath are the per-platform breakdowns, citation mix (owned vs. editorial vs. competitor), and a list of your best- and worst-performing prompts.

For specific action items, click into Recommendations. Each card tells you the exact page on your site to edit, what content to add, and why the competitor's page is currently winning the citation.

That's it for the happy path. From here:
